I figure now is as good a time as any to introduce myself! I’m Lizzy Dabczynski-Bean, the creator of Stitch People! My husband, Spencer, and I met in 2004 doing a community theater production of ‘A Christmas Carol’, tied the knot in 2010, and have been inseparable ever since. We both graduated from BYU–I majored in Media Music and minored in Business, and Spencer got his Masters in Information Systems. I play trombone, like to do community theater, and love dogs (we have three rescue dogs)!
Why Stitch People?
I made my first cross stitch portrait as a Christmas present for my parents in 2011. Spencer thought they were fun and creative and suggested I sell them. So I created an Etsy shop and started taking orders! As the Pinterest crowd picked up on the idea, I decided to write a book for people who wanted to make portraits themselves! After refining my patterns for over 3 years, I put all that information into the DIY Stitch People book and started selling it here on my website!
