Description

Interested in stitching your very own, personalized Stitch People portrait but NOT interested in designing it yourself? Let us help! We’ll be happy to design a customized Stitch People portrait pattern for your own family, according to the details you provide.

What are Your Options?

  • Number of Characters: Select the number of characters in the pattern (anything other than a ‘babe-in-arms’ is a character, including toddlers, pets, and larger accessories—see below for more details)
  • Additional Text Options: Choose this option to get 2 (two) additional text style options included with your finished custom pattern (in addition to the basic text style that comes default)
  • Floral Embellishment: Choose this option to add a floral embellishment to your portrait! If you have specific requests for the types of flowers, let us know.

If you need more than 16 characters, please reach out to us via our Contact Form!

What to Expect

The PDF you’ll receive will have a chart of your cross-stitch pattern along with DMC floss color assignments/recommendations for each element in your portrait. As with any counted cross-stitch pattern, simply identify the center of your fabric and the center of your pattern, choose a starting point, and begin!

Please note, the PDF pattern will contain no instructions about how to cross-stitch, how to do special stitches, or how to complete your portrait. This product is intended for ready-to-go stitchers who aren’t ready-to-go designers (don’t worry, we totally understand!)

You can find our Cross Stitch 101 guide here if you are a beginner, and can find more ideas and instruction on our blog, like 3 Non-Essential Stitches you may find useful, or 3 Different Hairstyles for your Stitch People.

How Long Does Designing Take?

We’ll need up to 4 weeks from the time we receive the info for your pattern (more about that below). During that time, we’ll correspond if we have questions!

What Stitch People Needs From You

We’ll follow up with you after your purchase, but to give you a heads up, we’ll be looking for a detailed description of each character, preferred order of characters, the text you’d like beneath the characters (up to 2 lines), any special requests for floral embellishment (if you choose this option), as well as photos of each character to ensure a better likeness and capturing of important details. The successful design of your custom pattern is dependent up on the detail you provide us at this point!

Will I get any design revisions?

To keep our costs down, we don’t offer revisions on our custom patterns. If we have any questions about the design, we’ll be in touch! Otherwise, we’ll deliver your completed pattern to you without any revisions. (Of course, if there’s a glaring error we’ll fix it!) If you see something you’d like to change in the pattern as you’re stitching it, you can just make the change on the fly – we’ll never know! ????

What counts as a ‘character’?

A “character” is considered anything other than a babe-in-arms. A child, adult, pet, or stand-alone baby of any size or style is considered it’s own character. Yes, size may differ but details often make up for the size differences!

Accessories of large sizes are also considered an additional character. Anything the size of a baby or larger: musical instruments, bicycles, skateboards, etc.

Examples: Two adults and a babe-in-arms is considered two characters. Two adults and a dog is considered three characters. Two adults, one holding a saxophone, and a child sitting on the ground is considered four characters (but if that adult were holding a flute, it would be considered three characters because a flute isn’t larger than a baby).
