Do you need a sewing machine to complete this project?

I did use a sewing machine, HOWEVER it definitely can be done without it. If you’d rather skip the sewing machine, here are some tips:

  • Cut the large swaths precisely and finish them in the hoop as you would any embroidery project (running stitch around the excess, pull tight to scrunch it in.
  • Aida fabric cross-stitched number pockets can be finished with anti fray and glued onto the fabric
  • The Tree can be finished with anti-fray and glued on
  • Snaps and/or magnets can be glued on
  • Iron-on interfacing can be used to back the ornament pieces. Double-sided iron-on interfacing can be used if ornament pieces are desired to have a fabric back. Sandwich double-sided interfacing between Aida and fabric.
  • When in doubt, finish the glued edges even further by gluing (lightly) ribbon, ric-rac, etc. to disguise any rough/crusty glue edges and make more festive
